SATO NS PUMP
An NS pump is a heavy-duty, self-priming centrifugal water pump widely utilized in agriculture for surface irrigation, dewatering flooded areas, and high-volume water transfer. Designed as a bare-shaft unit, it is typically belt-driven by an independent power source—often a stationary diesel engine or the power take-off of a walking tractor—making it highly adaptable for off-grid operations in rice paddies and remote farm estates.
Housing & Impeller: Constructed with a rugged cast iron volute casing and a semi-open, non-clogging impeller. This allows the pump to easily pass turbid, muddy water or small soft solids without jamming, which is essential when drawing water directly from earthen canals, shallow rivers, or irrigation ditches.
Sealing Mechanism: Typically available in two configurations: packing seal (often denoted as P-type) and mechanical seal (M-type). Packing seals are highly durable, cost-effective, and can be manually repacked in the field, while mechanical seals offer superior, maintenance-free leak prevention.
Performance & Capacity: Common agricultural models (such as the NS-50, NS-80, and NS-100) feature 2-inch, 3-inch, and 4-inch inlet/outlet diameters. A standard 4-inch unit (NS-100) running at 2000 RPM can deliver impressive flow rates exceeding 400 Gallons Per Minute (GPM) with a total delivery head of up to 80 feet.
Self-Priming Capability: Once the main pump casing is initially manually primed (filled with water), its internal design retains enough liquid to automatically create a vacuum on subsequent starts. This eliminates the strict need for a foot valve at the bottom of the suction hose, simplifying rapid deployment in the field.
